Performance Assessment of Resistance Ratio Bridges used for the Calibration of SPRTs

چکیده
Automatic balancing dc and ac resistance ratio bridges are the primary measurement devices used by National Measurement Institutes for the calibration of standard platinum resistance thermometers (SPRTs) on the International Temperature Scale of 1990 (ITS-90). Performance assessment of these resistance ratio bridges is critical to the determination of both the uncertainties of the measurements and for identifying if a resistance bridge is exhibiting noncompliant behavior. NIST and NRC investigated the performance of 18 resistance ratio bridges consisting of 14 ASL F18s, 2 ASL F900s, and 2 MI 6010Bs. The assessment techniques included the use of an AEONZ resistance bridge calibrator, an ASL ratio test unit, and complements checks. Additionally, the possible effects from using different ac frequencies were investigated. This paper presents the methods of assessment employed, indicates the performance results obtained for the 18 resistance ratio bridges, describes the determination of measurement uncertainties, and assesses the contribution to the calibration uncertainty of SPRT measurements at ITS-90 fixed points.

Probabilistic Evaluation of Seismic Performance of RC Bridges in Iran
Many existing bridges were designed without adequate consideration of seismic risk. The full or partial collapse of even one major bridge in a city or community would have destroying results. There has been focuses on developing fragility-based seismic vulnerability of existing usual bridges in Iran or support decision making on seismic upgrade. This article focuses on developing performance b...
متن کاملThe Effect of Vertical Component of Earthquake on Continuous and Monolithic Frame Bridges
Performance of structures during recent earthquakes shows that the effect of vertical component of earthquake (VCE) could be considered as one of the main causes of bridges collapse. In most of bridge design codes, for seismic analysis of bridges, VCE is not taken into account or a distinguished method isn’t presented for assessment of VCE. In the present work, the effect of VCE on two existing...

The AASHTO code of practice for design of bridges shows that the ductility level for foundation is given equal to one. Bridges are classified in three classes. For class of essential and normal bridges a question for not to use ductility level due to the importance of bridges’ costs is become an important item in different countries particularly in Middle east. This paper aimed to study on pe...
متن کاملThe Effect of Compressive Strength Reduction of Column Section Expose due to Freezing-Thawing Cycles on the Seismic Performance of Bridges
One of the serious damages of tremendous earthquakes is the damage to bridges as the major components in an arterial road network, as relief operation is interrupted following cutting roads. Regardless of the magnitude and severity of an earthquake, other factors are also important in the strength and seismic performance of concrete bridges. Freezing-thawing cycles are among the factors, whi...
متن کاملDeflection Measurement of Masonry Arch Bridges with Tall Piers: Case Study of Shahbazan Bridge
A common practice for detailed assessment of masonry bridges is to use recorded deflection signature of mid-span of such structures due to predefined loading schemes. However, measuring the deflection of bridges with tall piers or those situated over deep valleys introduces certain difficulties, since common deflection-meters require a reference point relative to which the measureme...
